Do midlife women's stories matter?

More than ever.

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of Empress Editions, an innovative indie press dedicated to amplifying the voices of midlife women and transforming the publishing landscape. With a vision born from bold ideas and shaped by global insights—from paper to fulfillment to distribution by Hachette—we’re setting out to rewrite the rules of publishing and storytelling for midlife audiences.

Are You There God? It’s Me, Menopause

A novel about friendship, faith (or lack thereof), and one very midlife meltdown.

What if everything you thought you’d figured out… suddenly wasn’t?

How to Pre-order Are You There God? It’s Me, Menopause

Meet Maggie — 51, marketing director, half-Jewish/half-Christian, spiritually confused since 1973, mother of two teens, and newly minted member of the “Am I Losing My Mind or Is This Perimenopause?” club.

Maggie thought she was entering her resting era. Instead, she’s thrust into the hormonal Hunger Games.

Hot flashes at staff meetings.
Crying in the Target parking lot.
Feeling invisible.
Feeling too visible.
And a marriage that is fraying quietly at the edges.

Enter the TWATS — The Women About Town — the grown-up glow-up of the middle school friends she once relied on. Now? They’re her lifeline.

What You’ll Love Inside

  • Characters who feel like your best friends (and your group chat).

  • Heartfelt, hilarious moments that make midlife feel less lonely.

  • The messy, beautiful truth about reinventing yourself at 50+.

  • A story that proves you’re not invisible — you’re becoming unstoppable.
